Pauliina is a Helsinki based artist, illustrator and graphic designer with a BA from Lahden Muotoiluinstituutti (Lahti Institute of Design), 2018. She works under the artist name Pauliina Skarr.
With her roots being grounded in Finland, she loves to adventure the world around her; whether being in quiet woods, watching the autumn colors change, or finding herself exploring a busy city. Her work is influenced by being in these surroundings and often plays with the balance between spontaneous expression and conscious thought. These physical and mental landscapes are transformed into a harmony of colours, shapes and marks, as well as poems and stories that connect to the heart of the viewer.
Pauliina is a visionary and dreamer that communicates abstract realities through creative means. She has an eye for beauty but loves to leave room for that which is quirky, fun and imperfect - as life itself. ;) More than anything, she wants her work to be an oasis where freedom and beauty can be experienced. She believes the power of creativity can bypass the limitations of our conscious mind and help us experience the fullness of life to a greater extent. Whether viewing a painting, reading a text or looking at illustrations, you are invited to step into that oasis.
